Syndication

Syndication Menu

Figure 35 – Syndication Menu

This option allows the Site Administrator to designate which external Eduvision.tv sites your Channel Managers will be able to syndicate (share) Assets with.

Syndication of Assets works in two ways.

Title-By-Title and By Entire Channel.

Preparation for Syndication.

Syndication needs to be activated by a Site Administrator, then Eduvision sites need to be selected as Syndication Partners.

Once Syndication Partners are selected, your Channel Managers can syndicate to these sites.

I have outlined the process further down in this message.

When a title or VOD Channel is syndicated, the receiving site's Primary Site Administrator is notified via email.

Syndication can occur on a title-by-title basis or by entire VOD channel. In the latter scenario, once the Syndicated VOD channel has been accepted by the receiving site, Asset titles can be added at the “Source” site and they are automatically populated into the receiving sites. No additional authentication is needed at the receiving site. So it’s easy.

Your system will also show you if a title or VOD channel has been Syndicated Out (SO) or received/Syndicated In (SI)

    Channel Management Menu

Figure 44 – Channel Management Menu

Under Channel Management the Admin can perform three key functions…

What is a “Channel”? A Channel is a classification under which you would logically group certain Assets. Channels created by the admin can be owned only by admin.

A channel may be named Science, and all Assets related to science projects would be uploaded to this channel or you may choose to create Science-Smith and Science-Odala, where Teacher Steve Smith’s Science Assets are uploaded to and Teacher Pam Odala’s Science Assets are stored respectively.

Important: At this time, each Channel can have only one “Owner”. However, Each Owner can have more than one Channel.

Some default channels have been created for you.

You can create as many channels as you want.

Channels and Owners are subject to the Asset “approval” process that allows Assets to be shown to the public.
